JOB TITLE: VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Performs clinical pathology and radiology diagnostic procedures, triage incoming animals, performs accurate and detailed
medical record keeping, administers treatments and provides guidance to other staff and volunteers when needed. Reports to
the Operations Director.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Performs exams and triages incoming animals.
• Responsible for administering treatments, calculating drug doses, collecting blood and performing limited lab work. This
includes sending lab samples out when needed.
• Takes radiographs at local veterinary clinic.
• Assists in ordering and monitoring supplies, drugs and medical equipment. Performs related activities such as tracking drug
expirations, logging controlled drugs and maintaining stock.
• Performs laboratory procedures on blood and feces. Coordinates parasitology treatments under supervision of veterinarian.
• Responsible for the maintenance and care of the clinic and its equipment to include care, repair, and cleaning, and autoclaving
instruments when needed at the local veterinary clinic.
• Assist with hand raising duties as part of neonatal care for animals. This may include research for proper diets, weight gain
standards and proper husbandry.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Requires completion of a two year approved Veterinary Technology program. Must have National Certification and be able to
obtain registration in the State of Ohio. Minimum of two years experience working as a Veterinary Technician.

In recent years, help in the carpentry field has been in high demand and VNI has struggled to find individuals who would like to grow with VNI in their career and their skills. VNI has an abundant amount of bridge work contracted for 2019 and beyond that allows for openings of this nature this spring.
